Each of the following organisations has generously supported firstsite and Colchester's new visual arts building.

The Foundation for Sports and the Arts
The Foundation for Sports and the Arts was established in 1991 and is based in Liverpool. The Foundation awards its funds to a range of projects across the UK from large capital appeals to small bursaries with the goal to increase active participation in sports and the arts.

The Fowler Smith & Jones Trust
The Trust is, as its name suggests, the amalgam of three separate trusts established between 1950 and 1980. This is an Essex based organisation which focuses its investment largely into the county. Grants are made to local organisations or national bodies for projects based in Essex, generally under the themes of young people, arts, health, community and churches.

The Foyle Foundation
The Foyle Foundation is based in London and awards grants across the UK to charities whose core work is in the areas of Arts and Learning. The Foundation also supports the building of infrastructure and the construction of arts facilities.
The Garfield Weston Foundation

The Mercers' Company
The Mercers' Company dates back to 1394 and is based in the City of London. The Company usually make grants under the themes of general welfare including the elderly, education, the Christian faith, heritage and arts. Clothworkers' Foundation
Founded in 1977 and based in the City of London, The Foundation seeks to fund projects that improve the quality of life, particularly for people and communities facing disadvantage.
