Every Saturday 11am - 1pm and 2 - 4pm, Learning Studios.
An intriguing family activity with a different theme each week. It's entirely free and you can stay for as little or as long as you like.
16 November - Mosaic Magic
Join artist Jane Allen to create your own contemporary mosaics using interesting coloured materials.
23 November - Can Can
Look at the drawings in the exhibition and then create your own artistic labels for tin cans of food. Take one home and donate one to Colchester's food bank. With artist Jane Allen.
30 November - Wheat Street
Join artist Bethany Mitchell to help transform the Learning Studio into a field of wheat. Join us to print it, plant it and play in it.
7 December - Corn Dog
Join artist Jacqueline Davies to get crafty with the new Corn Dog Lucky Bag Kits and help create a huge corny version of Agnes Denes Map Projection 'The Hot Dog' on the windows in the Learning Spaces.
14 December - Dust Drawing
Try your hand at making pictures with dust and other smal things. Magnifying glasses provided. With artist Bethany Mitchell.
21 December - Bah Humbug A.R.T. KIT
A kit full of sparkly elf treasure to create a Christmas decoration, Christmas Humbug or a mini gift for someone special. Designed by firstsite's Family Advisory Group and available for just £1 from the firstsite shop. Great for kids Christmas party bags.

Using old engine parts create your own art installation, to photograph, draw, deconstruct and build again.
18 January - Foraging Glorious Food
Join Charlie Stocker, as seen in Masterchef the Professionals Quarter finals, as he works using foraged food in create edible masterpieces. http://charliestocker.com
25 January - Recycled Forest
Create a recycled forest with artist Jess White, using old newspapers, wrapping paper, envelopes and empty loo rolls.
1 February - Nature Culture
Join local permaculture enthusiast Emilia Brumpton to use recycled materials to create art responding to nature. Create a giant web of life with images of trees, birds, animals, fruit and berries and create connections between art and the natural world.
8 February - BFI Film Academy
Join us for a whole day of screenings and join in activities for families all programmed and delivered by Film Academy participants.
15 February - Waste World
Calling Eco warriors; you are invited to come and create a wonderful world made of waste with artist Mandy Roberts.
22 February - Flour Sticks and Woad
Artist Nabil Ali will offer a great chance to explore his work by creating and using organic paint, along with the opportunity to make and draw with flour sticks.
1 March - firstsite Flight
An opportunity to create the smallest, largest, fastest, most colourful, trickiest, or downright best paper aeroplane, simple and brilliant.
8 March - What a Mixture: Seeds, Rice and Mini Vegetables
Our Family Advisory Group created a range of extraordinary activities for families to take part in using thousands of cress seeds, the longest paper people chain (in Colchester) creating mini vegetable gardens and tiny writing on rice grains.
Just drop in, no need to book and don't forget firstsite's café MUSA for lunches or snacks.
