Every Saturday 11am - 1pm and 2 - 4pm, Learning Studios.

An intriguing family activity with a different theme each week all based on the exhibitions at Firstsite or specific to the season. It's entirely free and you can stay for as little or as long as you like.

14 March: Hybrid Objects
A session delivered by other/other/other artists Holly Rumble and Sorrel Muggeridge which takes inspiration from the new exhibitions.

21 March: Action Stations
Using our new gallery guide, A Book of Actions, work your way around the new exhibitions at Firstsite with your family.

28 March: Construct : Destruct
Working with artist Mandy Roberts you can create then destroy some art.  Wrap and unwrap objects. 

4 April: Curious Objects
A session to explore objects as artworks. Drawing, creating and exploring our exhibitions with a brilliant artist.

18 April: Treasure Hunters Unearthed
There are treasure objects all around us; beneath our feet, hidden around a corner or just out of reach. Join our amazing artists this week to explore outstanding objects of desire and create your own search to unearth something hidden.

25 April: Come and Curate
Have you ever wanted to be able to create your own art exhibition? Join our artists and curators to do just that with a selection of artworks created by young people.

2 May: A Hidden Parliament
A parliament of owls, changing perception with artists from other/other/other.

9 May: Get into The Thick of It
Leading up to the General Election join artist Mandy Roberts to dress up as your most or least favourite Politician in the 'Photo Booth' taking away a transfer souvenir tote bag.

16 May: Damage your own Art with the Art Cannon
Working with local artist and maverick Jonny Buffalo you can create then destroy some art. Bring along any art you would like to destroy and we will help!

23 May: Organ Pipe Making and Big Pipe Busk Procession
Create your own version of an organ pipe with musician Jules Bushnell and then process through the town to the Moot Hall to join a special performance where you will creae sounds on your own pipes.

30 May: Act on your Beliefs
The results of the ballot votes collected during the exhibition will be revealed. Come and join in with artists other/other/other to see what the results reveal.

6 June: Nepalese Crafts
Join makers and craftswomen from the Nepalese communities in Colchester to learn some traditional skills.

13 June: Found Sound
Working with sound artists and using musical instruments, found objects, your own voice and body you will explore the changes in acoustics throughout the building.
