Each Saturday there will be something imaginative, unusual and fun at firstsite for families with children from 4 - 11 years. Don't forget we have MUSA too if you want to pick up lunch while you're here.

25 May - Curve Painting
Check out Sophie von Hellermann's gigantic painting on the curved wall in firstsite then make your own teeny tiny version!

1 June - Fantastic Plastic: Animal Figures Collections
Bring along your own fantastic plastic toy animal collections to sketch them in front of our gigantic Wild Painting backdrop.

8 June - University of Essex Family Learning Festival
Get together and discover at our summer family learning festival! Academics and students from the University of Essex will explore different educational themes through a variety of exciting lectures and a marketplace of hands-on workshops. Come and meet a lecturer; go back in history with our time travelling team; explore languages; have fun with the sciences and get creative with the arts, plus much more! In partnership with firstsite and Children's University who will be on hand to stamp any passports to learning throughout the day.

15 June - Newspaper Forests
Roll them up, snip and pull - an ever increasing and emergent forest created by recycling old newspaper.

22 June - DIY Watercolour Paint
Mix up your own concoction of colours and take home your very own homemade paints.

29 June - Tree Bark Creations
Mosey on out to firstsite's D-shaped lawn to find barks of all tones and textures - find various patterns and shapes.

6 July - YAK family Saturday: Flow skills
Exteme hula hooping, circus skills and poi spinning led and programmed by YAK.

13 July - YAK family Saturday: Games Games Games
A selection of games to try out with your family - including Magic the Gathering, Pokemon and X-box games on giant screens. Programmed by YAK.

20 July - YAK family Saturday: Freestyle basketball and street dance
Join some of the members of Freestyle Motion to try out astounding moves with a basketball or your own body.

27 July - MISFITS
Paint characters and creatures in bright watery colours and fit them in an unfolding imaginative landscape.

3 August - Art Bar: Concotion Painting
Choose some colours from the paintings in the exhibition and then mix your own drinkable painting in a glass by creating a mocktail at the Red Art Bar.

10 August - Big Colour Palette
Come along and paint with homemade giant watercolour palettes and add to the giant floor painting. Colour charts will be hung up to inspire you.

17 August - Summer Paint Explosion
A summer explosion of colour, shapes, materials and action.

24 August - Dance the Exhibition
An opportunity for families to take inspiration from the artwork and borrow movements from characters in Sophie von Hellermann's paintings with dancer Debbie Watkins Jones.

31 August - Summer Paint Explosion
A summer explosion of colour, shapes, materials and action.
