Next Book Group meeting: Tuesday 4 June

This session will be run by Associate Artist Elaine Tribley, and the next book for discussion is:

June:

Chromophobia by David Batchelor (Reaktion Books, ISBN 1-86189-074-5)

July:

On Photography by Susan Sontag (Penguin Books, ISBN 0-14-005397-2)

August:

TBC - The discussed artist was Sophie Calle who uses photography amongst other mediums for the work (linking to the previous title). In the 1990's she collaborated with the writer Paul Auster by asking him to invent a fictive character which she could attempt to resemble and serving as the model for the character Maria in his novel Leviathan.

Calle plays around with fact and fiction and took this work as far as creating the works of art created by the fictional character in the book which included a series of colour co-ordinated meals.

FREE, but booking essential
