Sarah Sabin, Untitled (detail), 2003

5 November – 10 December 2005
Sarah Sabin
Artist Space

During Sarah's five week residency in the Artist Space she worked around Colchester, finding inaccessible places and objects to cast in silicon resin.

Bringing these casts back to the Artist Space she then used them to make metal objects - with the whole low temperature casting process carried out within the gallery.

Her objects, relics of a hidden town, were then displayed upon the wall - almost as an archaeological assemblage in a gallery.

The work was the latest phase of Sabin's continued understanding of the fusion of art and archaeology.
