Freddie Robins, Kinitted homes of crime

7 September – 12 October 2002
Freddie Robins
Cosy

firstsite was delighted to host the first major public exhibition of London-based artist, Freddie Robins. firstsite is currently seeking to launch Robins onto a national and international platform though an extensive exhibition tour.

Robins completed an MA in Textile Design at the Royal College of Art in 1989. She has used this rigorous training to develop a unique body of work that sits comfortably within a visual arts context – transforming the craft of knitting into conceptual art. Robins uses knitting to explore pertinent contemporary issues of the domestic, image, gender, the body and the human condition. She disrupts and subverts our preconceptions of the medium as being feminine and non-threatening.

Exhibition currently available for tour.

Other venues toured
Queens Hall Arts, Hexham; The Pier Arts Centre, Orkney.
