Jane works from a studio at Cuckoo Farm, Colchester and plans to use the Artist Space to explore working on a larger scale. Her studio can determine the size and form her practice takes, so she intends to experiment with large-scale drawings and projected images. The Artist Space will also offer her room to consider collectively an on going series of paintings called
"Regular features"

Over the past two years, Jane Frederick has been preoccupied with exploring the representation of people through fashion photography. Combining the permanence of the painted portrait with the transient, fickle world of fashion, she plays with the visual language and palette of the two. Selecting her friends as her models, they were styled and encourage to adopt new personas in front of the camera. Thus, familiar characters were transformed by lighting and clothing. From this starting point, track the development of her paintings and drawings over the weeks she is resident in the Artist Space.
