15 Artists, 15 Days

Part of firstsite's programme to mark its 15th birthday

 

Residencies and public interaction:
Tuesday 1 - Thursday 17 December 2009
(everyday except Sundays)

Showcase event:
Saturday 19 - Thursday 24 December 2009

 

15 Artists, 15 Days is a series of 15 artist residencies, each lasting a single day.

The participating artists will swap a day in their studio to make new work, test ideas and experiment with their practice in a semi-public space.

Residencies will take place consecutively as a cumulative process, with a showcase event at the end to display a range of outcomes. 15 Artists, 15 Days will feature new media and live works, responses to the site and situation, installations, participatory events as well as painting, drawing and making.

15 Artists, 15 Days will take place in our new premises:
4-6 Short Wyre Street, Colchester.
The space will be open 9.30 - 5.00 Monday - Saturday. Some evening events will take place.

 

firstsite have also commissioned artists Damien Robinson and Stuart Bowditch to make a new work that documents the project.

Using a skype connection, they will listen into the residency space each day for an hour and make a remote recording from their studio. The 15 hours they record will be edited into an audio work that captures the essence of 15 Artists, 15 Days through incidental and ambient sounds, which will be presented on our website in the New Year.
